My Credentials, My Approach, and What It Means for You and Your Dog

When you’re looking for someone to help your dog—especially if they’re struggling with behavioural issues, trauma, or need rehabilitation—you want to know they’re in the best possible hands. Qualifications aren’t just paperwork; they’re proof of experience, commitment, and a promise to put your dog’s welfare first. Here’s what sets my approach at CBRC Ltd apart.

My expertise is grounded in years of hands-on experience: I’ve always felt a deep connection with dogs that are, shall we say, more challenging—those who often struggle to find a place in the world. In 2011, I established a sanctuary specifically for dogs facing behavioural issues, age-related challenges, or disabilities, inspired by a desire to help those with little chance of being re-homed and over the years, I’ve worked with some of the most difficult cases imaginable. I have worked with 150 UK and European aggressive and/or reactive dogs at my sanctuary, as well as countless rehabilitation clients. This extensive background has equipped me to understand, assess, and support the rehabilitation of even the most traumatised and behaviourally complex dogs, regardless of their background, breed, or size.

My Professional Journey: A Foundation Built on Learning

Certified Professional Dog Training Instructor (CBRC)
This certification grounds everything I do. It confirms I use evidence-based, force-free methods to address a wide range of behavioural challenges. From basic obedience to advanced rehabilitation, this is the core of my practice.

Progressive Dog Rehabilitation Specialist (2025)
Behavioural rehabilitation is a rapidly evolving field. My specialist qualification means I’m trained in the latest, most effective techniques—especially for dogs with deep-rooted trauma, anxiety, or complex reactivity.

Canine Trauma and Rescue Expert (2025)
Many dogs at CBRC Ltd have experienced significant trauma or have been rescued from difficult backgrounds. My expertise ensures I can create safe, structured plans that support true recovery—not just symptom management.

Guild of Master Dog Trainers – Accredited Member
Membership in the Guild is more than a badge. It means adhering to a code of ethics, staying current with best practices, and being part of a professional community that puts animal welfare first.

LANTRA Certified: Chemical Injection & Live Animal Capture (2014)
Some dogs can’t be handled with conventional techniques due to fear or aggression. My LANTRA training enables safe, stress-minimised handling for even the most challenging cases.

NASDU Dog Handler & Safe Handling (2014)
Handling safety is non-negotiable. My NASDU credentials ensure I can manage dogs safely and humanely, no matter how anxious or reactive they are.

Advanced Behaviour & Aggression Training with Shaun Ellis, The Wolf Centre (2014)
Learning from Shaun Ellis—one of the world’s leading canine behaviourists—gave me unique insight into dog psychology, communication, and aggression management. This deepened my understanding of dogs as individuals.

Peddymark Microchip Implanter (2017)
I’m qualified to microchip dogs, supporting responsible ownership and compliance with UK law.

Dog First Aid & Emergency Canine Care (2017)
Emergencies can happen at any time. My first aid certification means I’m prepared to respond quickly and appropriately, keeping every dog safe.

Ongoing CPD via IMDT Canine Principles (since 2012)
I’m committed to lifelong learning. Through regular courses and seminars, I ensure my methods are always up to date with the latest science and welfare standards.

What Makes These Qualifications Important?

1. They’re Not Just for Show—They’re for Your Dog’s Safety and Progress
Every qualification represents a skill I use every day. Whether it’s handling a dog with severe aggression, supporting a rescue through trauma, or simply making sure every dog is microchipped and safe, my training is practical and hands-on.

2. You Get Evidence-Based, Ethical Care
I use only force-free, positive methods. My training ensures I never resort to outdated or aversive techniques, and I always tailor my approach to the individual dog.

3. I’m Prepared for Anything
From medical emergencies to unexpected behavioural setbacks, my qualifications mean I can adapt and respond—keeping your dog’s wellbeing at the heart of every decision.

My Reputation: Trusted by Owners, Rescues, and Vets

– Rescue Partnerships: Many of my clients are referred by rescues and veterinary professionals who trust my expertise with “last chance” dogs.
– Ongoing Support: I don’t just offer one-off solutions. My clients receive remote support for as long as they need it, and many return for boarding, skills top-ups, and advice.
– No Age or Breed Limits: My experience covers every breed, age, and background—from nervous puppies to large, powerful breeds with complex histories.

Standing Out in the Industry

Not every dog trainer or behaviourist has this breadth of knowledge or commitment to ongoing learning. My qualifications set me apart by ensuring:

– A holistic, welfare-first approach
– Full compliance with UK regulations and best practices
– The ability to handle even the most complex behavioural cases
– A reputation for results and ethical care

What This Means for You and Your Dog

Choosing a qualified, experienced professional means peace of mind. You’re not just getting someone who loves dogs (though I absolutely do)—you’re working with someone who has invested years in learning how to help them thrive, no matter the challenge.
