One To One Sessions With Louis

One To One Weekly Behavioural Support For You And Your Dog

Living with a reactive dog can feel isolating, owners find their world closing in, they stop people coming to visit because the stress for all concerned is too much, the simple things those with non-reactive dogs do like popping into the village or having a coffee outside at a table in a café seems totally unthinkable, popping down to the post office with your dog impossible and a simple thing like walking in the high street is a no go. Quite simply as the reactivity increases your world diminishes and the circle of people who can get near your home or your dog reduces. Owners feel trapped, unsure what to do and so the only thing they can do is shut down their world and their dog's world. This becomes a snowball effect and makes normal life impossible for owners and the longer a dog's world is shut down this reaffirms their fear of people and dogs as they can't socialise. It's a vicious circle for everyone but there's a beacon of hope in the form of behavioural rehabilitation. Rehabilitation via a behavioural rehab stay with us or with our one to one non-residential support can make a difference. It's a journey of transformation that requires dedication, but the rewards are immeasurable. Take Louis, for example, whose story is a testament to the power of experience, knowledge and the right guidance and support combined with an owner's unwavering commitment. From the quiet of early morning walks to the joy of sitting at a bustling café, Louis progress is a victory not just for him, but for his owner too. It's a clear message to all struggling owners: CHANGE IS POSSIBLE. With the right support, patience, and lots of love, even the most reactive dogs can learn to navigate the world more peacefully, bringing back the simple pleasures of life that seemed lost. Louis's journey is a beacon of hope, showing that with time and effort, a dog's world can expand, and so can the lives of those who love them.

Louis...

? Little Louis is a rescue Frenchie from Greece. He is a non-residential one to one client and we are helping him with his deep rooted fear and anxiety of dogs, humans and the environment. He did so well yesterday and we look forward to continuing to help him and his mum on their journey ?

? CBRC One to One Non-residential session 2 with Louis who we are helping with high level human/ dog and environmental fear reactivity. Louis and his mum have worked super hard on their homework this last week ? They have been doing lots of focus work and sound desensitisation in the garden in readiness for us to see how Louis felt about going for a walk with people and dogs around. Louis can normally only go out when it's very quiet due to his fear reactivity. After us working together in the garden today then slowly moving out into the public car park behind, we had Louis happily and calmly doing distance work and passing both dogs and people calmly ? It was a great opportunity to learn and home in on his micro signals to enable us to help him feel safe and he did amazingly well ? We also worked on body touch and massage for Louis to help him calm and relax both indoors and out. Well done both, great work x ?

? One to one session number 3 with Louis. Louis and his mum have been working very hard on his desensitisation in all areas: to being outside, to people and to dogs. They have been working at distance and audibly and yesterday all of their hard work paid off big time as we were able to sit right next to the pavement in the high street, in the town, in the porch and let people and dogs go by without issue as they have their focus work sussed. Louis also spent some time in the car park watching dogs at distance, calmly ? Great teamwork ?

? One to one, session 4 with Louis. Louis and his mum are doing just great! They're out and about on walks with just a little distance from dogs and people now ? His focus work is amazing with his mum ??? We worked on dog and people socials following them about national trust grounds and we even popped through the very busy visitor centre! Another dog mum who should be very, very proud of her accomplishments and Louis improvement in coping with everyday life events ? What better than a treat ball on returning from our walk x

? One to one, session 5 with Louis ? Louis started his new medication last week which has really helped him with his shadow chasing and his fearful car light reflection chasing when indoors. For his 5th session we have been out around the Dunster Castle grounds again watching dogs and people ? We did some scatter treats in the main reception entrance where everyone took cover from the rain ☔️ We tucked ourselves into a safe corner and Louis happily enjoyed his treats with about 10 strangers just a few feet away… fab work Lou!! ??This duos life has been on hold for a while because of Louis issues and his mum expressed a real wish for help with doing the normal everyday things together that most of us take for granted like sitting together in a café ☕️ So over the previous week, Louis and his mum have not only been working hard on command work and people watching, they have also been practicing "table work" for when they start going to cafes together. So having done reconnaissance on the café, various observation points and safe places for him near the coffee shop today we are all set for our next session and operation "CAFE" to get these guys out to a coffee shop and for his mum to start to enjoy life again with Louis by her side ?

? One to one, session 6 with Louis ? ☕️☕️☕️☕️Louis did his last one to one session today with his mum and after weeks of working on his human, dog and environmental reactivity/fear he has done so well and come far enough that we took him for coffee in the town and he was an absolute superstar ????? This is something his mum really wanted to be able to do and all his focus work training and desensitising paid off and he utilised all of his skills and just sat as we watched the world, humans, bikes, cars and even dogs go by ? He will be coming in to the centre for a holiday very soon where we will continue his journey. Great work, I am so proud of you both ????

And then this happened...

Following our last session, we received a delightful message from Lesley, Louis' mum, accompanied by some photos. She expressed real joy in sharing that she had taken Louis to a café and enjoyed coffee with her friends. Congratulations to both Louis and Lesley—truly amazing!

Non-residential rehabilitation training is available for owners living in most parts of London, Devon, Dorset, and Somerset. Our non-residential option can be carried out in your own home/area, or we can arrange a secure dog field to work in. Our two dog field sites are Wiggle Tails in Charmouth (on the Dorset/Devon Border) and Kate's Walking field in Badgworth, Somerset. In these sessions we focus on assessing your dog and equipping you with the skills to bond with your dog and work on their issues using our force free methods.

Every dog is different, and their personalities are determined by breed, genetics, their upbringing, their experiences, and their environment. Helping owners understand their dogs and their issues and how to work with them, empowers them to move forward and help their dogs with confidence. Normal sessions would be an hour weekly, but bespoke packages are also available. Please use the enquiry form to get in touch for a free telephone consultation so that we can establish if this option works for your dog and for you.
